North Lincolnshire Artist
I have always been creative and in my teens I painted in oils. In early adulthood I explored many crafts and textile design on a commercial level.
Later on I became interested in gardening and went on to re-design several gardens before undertaking an HNC in Horticulture and Garden Design in 2000-2002. This involved photography (another love of mine) as well as drawing and painting to enable clients to visualise the completed gardens. I enjoyed painting so much that I began studying watercolours when on holiday in Scotland as this was the only time I had to indulge myself. I sold my first painting there and this spurred me on to develop my talent further. I became hooked and I have not been able to stop painting since. In fact, I have now retired from my ‘day job’ so that I can concentrate more fully on painting.
I am also a keen photographer and love taking landscapes, trying to capture different light effects. I also love taking close ups of flowers and several of these photos have been displayed in exhibitions.
Differing light conditions fascinate me and I try to capture them in my work. I paint in watercolours and acrylics mainly and also encaustic wax now and then. I am really enjoying this but it is so totally different from my other work.
My work has been included in exhibitions at galleries in England and Scotland and has sold internationally. I am a member of Street Art Hull and Ermine Art Group and take part in many local exhibitions including Winteringham Music and Arts Festival each September/October.
I am now exhibiting locally with Eileen Rounce as VILLAGE ART.
